The Data Controller: Charles Camp (operating as The Escapement).

- Role: Determines the purpose and means of processing your data (e.g., delivering the newsletter). Charles Camp assumes direct responsibility for the lawful processing of your information.
The Data Processor: We utilize the Ghost Foundation (Ghost(Pro)) to provide our server infrastructure.
- Location: Ghost stores subscriber data within the European Union (Netherlands).
- Compliance: Our relationship is governed by a strict Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that ensures your data remains protected under EU privacy standards.

3. Data Collection: The Principle of Minimization

We practice Data Minimization. We only collect what is strictly necessary to deliver our intelligence reports.

A. Information You Provide

Email Address: Required to receive The Escapement Brief.
Name: Required to personalize communications. We believe in building professional relationships, not anonymous lists.
Payment Data: If you upgrade to a paid membership, payments are processed via Stripe. We do not store your credit card details; they are handled securely by Stripe’s PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure.

B. Automated Intelligence

Engagement Metrics: We analyze email open rates and click-through rates. As Data Scientists, we use this internal data to refine our content strategy and ensure we are delivering value.
Essential Cookies: We use cookies solely for authentication (logging you in) and site functionality. We do not use third-party advertising pixels to sell your browsing behavior to data brokers.

4. How We Use Your Data

Your data is utilized for three specific operational purposes:

Delivery: Transmitting Market Data, Sovereignty, and Protocol intelligence reports directly to your inbox.
Optimization: Analyzing aggregate performance to improve the quality of our analysis.

While our data vault is located in the EU, The Escapement operates with a global, location-independent philosophy.

Secure Remote Access: When the Data Controller accesses the infrastructure from outside the EU (e.g., during geo-arbitrage travel), it is done via encrypted connections (VPN/HTTPS) to ensure the data remains secure in transit.
No Unlawful Transfers: We do not physically transfer the database storage to non-adequate jurisdictions.
